This spell forces a living animal, dragon, giant, humanoid, or monstrous humanoid with an Intelligence score of at least 1 to play host to an incorporeal creature with the (Spirit) subtype. Both the host creature and the incorporeal creature must be within range of the spell. Unwilling subjects receive a saving throw to negate the effect. If both targets fail their saves or are willing, then the incorporeal creature melds with the host. For the duration of the spell, the incorporeal creature wears its host as a garment, replacing its physical ability scores (Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution), hit point totals, movement, racial abilities, and natural attacks with those of the host. If the host is capable of speech and has hands, the possessing spirit can cast spells if it has any material components to hand. The possessing spirit is proficient with all of the host's natural attacks and special abilities for the duration of the spell. If the host has manufactured weapons and the possessing spirit is proficient with them, it can wield those weapons.

Damage dealt to the host does not harm the possessing spirit. If the possessing spirit undertakes any action contrary to the basic nature of the host, the host receives a saving throw. Success prevents the spirit from taking the action. If the possessing spirit attempts to force the host to injure itself or undertake an action which is obviously suicidal, the spell ends.
