Freelance Writing/Editing

I provide high quality writing and editing with a quick turnaround, to your specifications. Not everyone has the knack of taking ideas and wrapping them in words. That's where a good freelance copywriter/editor comes in. I take your vision: the message you want to convey, the facts that your would-be clients and customers need in order to see why your service or product is just what they need, and I bring to bear my education and experience at your service.

By contracting with me for freelance writing or editing services, you ensure that your project will be handled with the personal care and attention of a professional. I write to your specifications—not only to convey the facts of your case, but also with regard to the intangibles that spell success or failure in copywriting and editing. Choosing me, you choose a copywriter who is sensitive to the nuances of written communication and who works with clients to leave the public with a favorable impression about you and your business.

I am experienced in a variety of types of writing, with strong analytical abilities which make me an ideal provider of freelance solutions for any writing task which requires fast, accurate summary of large amounts of complex or specialized material or which demands that such information be translated into terms that the average person can understand.

About Me

I'm a Louisiana native with a Master of Arts degree in English. In my mid to late twenties I worked as an English teacher at several different high schools, but I decided that teaching at the high school level is not the right job for me; I found it very rewarding, but ultimately not in a way or to a degree which made it a viable choice for an extended career. Being a teacher enriched my life and provided me a chance to pass on (I hope) some of the good experiences that I had as a youngster through the offices of some memorable and committed educators . . . but the time finally came for me to move on.

I became a technical writer for an IT consulting firm called Strategic Staffing Services, after that, and gained some experience writing documentation for a claims processing system for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana. It was a valuable experience for me because working at BCBSLA's Baton Rouge headquarters exposed me to a corporate environment for the first time. I learned to appreciate Dilbert strips in a new way; I also learned what it's like to be a lowly cubical dweller who reports to multiple bosses . . . and of course I got lots of practice writing technical documents. See my freelancing services if that interests you.
